My wife has hundreds of photos from her youth. I have a handful.
If there’s one thing I’d ask my parents to change, it would be to take more photos as I was growing up. Of course, I have some photos from my birthdays and a few spectacular formal portraits taken at Olan Mills, but I really wish I had more moments to look back upon…especially as my own memories from childhood become hazy.

And yes, here’s where I segway into how important it is for EVERYONE to take photos of their kids and families. And where I remark that EVERYONE should have their family portraits taken at least every couple of years. Of course, I’m going to say that…I’m the photographer right?
Well, I’m also the son, the husband, the father, and friend.

And even though I don’t post much on social media, whenever I come across our annual family portraits or photos that my wife has posted on Facebook, I can’t help but smile. I’ll show it to my kids to remind them of how small they were, what chubby-bunnies they were, what amazing people they are through all their moments. I show off our amazing kids along our staircase at home. And smile every time someone comments about how great it is to have so many photos of the family.
So yes, this is where I remind all of you to take photos and have your photos taken. Whether you hire me as your photographer, or you take selfies, I can’t emphasize enough how much it will impact your future. You’ll look back and smile at each of the moments captured.
And of course, if you’d like me to help capture some of those moments, I’d be happy to do so 🙂
